This weekend, I visited a Christian University not far from my home that I'm considering. Everything was great, except for one thing - how small it was! Only 500 undergrads attend the University. For a social butterfly like me, this would definately be an environment that I'd have trouble with.
On Thursday, my parents and I are planning on taking a tour of the biggest and most prestigious University here in Canada. Over 40, 000 undergraduate students are enrolled, and that number is doubled when taking into consideration the graduate students. The "University Experience" is complete here - thousands of students, beautiful sprawling campus, and not to mention the variety of classes and courses you can choose from! The only negative, though, is the fact that it is a secular university. And while Campus for Christ is present, I wouldn't be recieving an education in line with God's Word.
Herein lies my conundrum. Applications must be submitted by January. That's no problem at all. But a choice must be made sometime in April...and although that sounds far away, the deadline is coming closer and closer. How am I suppossed to make a choice? Does God want me in one specific place? And if He does, how am I going to figure out where it is? What if it's neither one or the other, but a completely different option altogether?
All I know is that I have to trust in Him. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6) Oh, Lord! That I may always trust in You and depend on You is my prayer. May You lead me to wherever You want me, for I know that You have a plan for my life, a life that sings Your story.

Hello Claudia! I saw that you joined my blog so I thought I'd stop by.
Are you considering any Christian colleges in the U S? There are a couple of good ones near me.
Moody Bible in Chicago is a great one and Olivette University just south of Chicago.
Nice to "meet" you!
Janet
It sounds like you are working toward making good decisions. You will have a peace when the time comes...the Lord promises us "He will direct your path."
REmember there are a number of college in between really tiny and really huge check them out. Either a private Christian school or a state university are mission fields.
Continue to live in Him.
I went to a small Bible college of 200 people. I loved that size. We got to know each other well and my husband and I made some lifelong friends. We got a lot of individual attention from our teachers. I wouldn't trade my Bible college experience for anything. It gave me a good spiritual foundation for the rest of my life.
My oldest daughter went to a state university of 26,000 and loved it. She didn't get involved in church or any campus ministries and fell away from the Lord. I'm not saying that going to a state university will do that, but that's waht happened to her.
I think things to look for in a college is their doctinal statement (do they believe the same things you do?)and do they have the programs you want to study?
I also think it's great that you visit the prospective colleges if you can. That's one of the bst ways to see if something is the right fit. I'll be interested to hear what you decide.
Hey, thanks for all your comments :)
I'm considering a University in Virginia (Liberty) that's Christian. The only problem is money...it's really quite expensive to attend! I'm confident, however, that God will lead me to wherever He wants me to be. Thanks again for all the encouragent! :)
